In a faraway kingdom long ago, a curse was cast, the King– was unable to speak. The Queen, his pushy mean wife, has taken over control of the kingdom. However, even more importantly, in an attempt to keep her son, Prince Dauntless, single (so she is the only one he loves and trusts) she has decreed that only the princess that can pass HER test may marry her son. AND to add more to the ruling… no one else in the kingdom may marry until Prince Dauntless does. All the ladies-in-waiting have been “waiting and waiting AND waiting.”
The knight, Sir Harry, decides he is going to find a princess for Dauntless so he can marry his “pregnant” lady-in-waiting, Lady Larken. He succeeds and is able to find an amazing princess from the swamps of the marshland, Winnifred; who swims “the moat” when arriving at the castle. Prince Dauntless likes her immediately and begs his mother to “let me marry her.” Agreeing he can marry her if she passes a test on “sensitivity” -which ends up being impossible to pass….or is it? Will the princess pass the test? Will the prince get married? Will the king ever speak again? This is a fun, silly, musical of the retelling of “The Princess and the Pea.” Catchy songs, energetic dances, and colorful costumes make this musical a smashing hit!
