Magical Holiday Crafts

Looking for a few holiday crafts to do with the kids? These are great for your own home or to use as gifts!

Instagram Coasters

The kids can help pick out their favorite Instagram photos, and depending on their age, can also help create these personalized coasters.

Supplies needed include: four 4-inch round, flat cork pieces; Modge Podge glue, card stock paper, Instagram print-outs, Foam or felt mounting dots. Steps to make them: Using the cork piece, trace a circle onto the card stock and the picture print to make sure the size of the materials match. Next, paint a thin layer of Modge Podge onto the cork, then place the card stock on top. Do the same with your Instagram photo, and seal with another thin layer of the glue. Finally, place four mounting dots on the back.

Mason Jar Snow Globe

Create a fun snow globe using either fake Christmas trees, Rudolph, Santa, Palm Tree (for island-style) etc. Supplies needed include: a glue gun; mason jars, fake trees or Christmas characters; and fake snow, glitter, etc. Steps to make them: First, hot glue your fake tree (or character) onto the bottom of the mason jar lid. Next, hot glue a little bit of fake snow to the bottom of the lid so you can’t see the lid once the tree is in place. Then fill your mason jar with some snow, glitter, other embellishments. Finally, set your metal lid on the jar and fasten with the mason jar screw cap lid.

Driftwood Stars

This is a simple project using natural materials. Supplies needed include: driftwood pieces or twigs, a glue gun, clippers, a star template,

ribbon, twine, and berries (or other embellishments) to decorate the stars. Steps to make them: cut your driftwood into five equal parts, shape into a star using the template; then secure the ends with ribbon or twine. Embellish with berry garland cut to size, seashells, etc.
