Huliau Environmental Filmmaking Club is coming to the west side in spring 2017!  west side hefc flyer web

The Huliau Environmental Filmmaking Club run by the non-profit Maui Huliau Foundation has been helping students in grades 7-12 from all Maui schools make films about local environmental issues for the past 7 years. These films range from documentaries to music videos and have been selected over 60 times for film festivals around the world. The semester-long program normally meets after school at the Hawaiian Canoe Club in Kahului. However, in spring 2017, Maui Huliau Foundation is partnering with Maui Preparatory Academy in Napili to bring the program to west side communities in a condensed format for one semester only.

Students in grades 7-12 from all west side schools can apply on their website before January 11th or until all spots are filled. The program fee is only $75 including snacks, most transportation and a Huliau T-shirt. Need-based scholarships are also available. The program meets February 18-19th and March 4th and 11th. Filming will take place during part of spring break and editing sessions will be scheduled on weekend days in April. The program will only be offered in Napili for spring 2017 and in fall 2018 new students will again be accepted from all schools for the after-school program at the Hawaiian Canoe Club.
