Megan’s Meal of the Month

This month’s restaurant is Longhi’s. The restaurant’s color theme is black & white. There are tan awnings that shade you from the sun. You have a choice to where you want to sit: either at the booths or at the tables. There are also Romanesque columns.  Longhi’s is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The kids menu for lunch consists of: Chicken Strips with French Fries or Mixed Vegetables, Macaroni & Cheese with Penne Pasta, Fettuccine Alfredo, Penne Pasta with Marinara (with either Grilled Chicken or 2 Jumbo Shrimp), Grilled Chicken with Mixed Vegetables, Ahi Torino with Mixed Vegetables, and 8 oz. N.Y. Steak with Mixed Vegetables. For kid drinks there are smoothies (ask your server for flavors), milk, chocolate milk and good-old-homemade lemonade. For desserts you have Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream (Choice of Vanilla, Chocolate, Coffee, or Mango Sorbet), Keiki Ice Cream Sundae, and Root Beer Float.

I love eating the linguine with clams. The dish has tomatoes, linguine, and clams.  It is really delicious!J We had the pizza bread that is for starters. So, you don’t need to order that but, BEWARE! The green side is spicy. The red sauce, Pomodoro, is non-spicy. Don’t confuse it with Marinara, though, because it looks the same. Pomodoro consists of basil, tomatoes, and other herbs & spices.

My mom had the Chicken Marsala. That’s chicken cooked in Marsala Wine. It also has mushrooms and comes with either pasta or French Crustini. Fancy name, right? But, it’s only a type of French bread. My dad had the Chicken Piccata. A dish that has the same choice like my mom’s (pasta or bread) but the bread is soft. There is a tangy lemon sauce with capers that surrounds the island of chicken and bread.

For a drink I had a virgin Lava Flow. A lava flow is made up of sweet ice cream and strawberry sauce. For desserts my dad and I had the Chocolate Soufflé. That was excellent!J Melted chocolate in the middle, powdered sugar on top, and roasted macadamia nuts sprinkled on top of vanilla ice cream, and vanilla & raspberry sauces in cute designs. Yummy! Doesn’t that description make your mouth water? It makes mine. If you want a soufflé be sure to order it with your entrée so that it has time to cook. Oh, and it is very hot when it comes out, too! Come in now!
