BAILEY HOUSE MUSEUM

STUDENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

RECEIVES FUNDING from HC&S

Wailuku – “Educating youth about the past – for the future” is a paid work-study program for high school students at Bailey House Museum.  Named after a past trustee of the Maui Historical Society the program is called “The Alexa Kahui HC&S High School Internship.”  The program was developed to provide high school students with a program that would teach general office and customer service skills, and create an interest in preserving the history of Maui for future generations. header2

For 2013 the program is made possible through a $3,500 grant from HC&S.  HC&S has been funding the high school internship program since 2007.  Interns work in the Museum, Museum Shop, grounds, office, or on special projects.  This position requires a commitment of six hours a week on Saturdays during the school year and eighteen hours a week during school breaks.  Please contact Maui Historical Society to set up an interview.  This year the internships began on 8 June 2013 for the summer, 10 August 2013 for the fall, and 11 January 2014 for the spring.

The Maui Historical Society was founded in 1951 and is the oldest historical and preservation society on Maui.  Its mission is to Collect, Preserve, Study, Interpret and Share the History, and Heritage of Maui.  As a 501(c) 3, donations to the Maui Historical Society are tax deductible to the fullest extent of existing law.  Your gift ensures that the past is there for future generations.
