Mensore! Maui Mall and The Maui Okinawa Kenjin Kai (MOKK) are so excited to bring the Hawaii community a truly Okinawan experience.

This year’s Okinawan Festival will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 10am to 3pm at Maui Mall in Kahului.

The entertainment program features continuous Okinawan music and dance performed by homegrown talent from Maui, as well as performers from Oahu. Dance, Sanshin, Taiko, Iaido all take the stage for a beautiful cultural demonstration.

The craft fair program displays works from talented Maui and Oahu artisans. Of course, no Okinawan festival is complete without a lot of Okinawan food. The Maui festival definitely delivers with delicious pig’s feet soup, an Okinawan plate lunch, chow fun, everyone’s traditional favorite andagi, and a new favorite – taco rice (taco goodies on rice)!

Professional photo sessions in traditional Okinawan wear by Nagamine Photo Studio are always fun for children and adults, with all proceeds to benefit MOKK.

Fun games and activities for the keiki make this a great event for the entire ohana!

This year’s Country Store will feature homemade pickles, jams and jellies, maki sushi, and baked goods. Do not forget to buy your Okinawan Festival t-shirt while you are there!

The Maui Okinawa Kenjin Kai welcomes all Uchinanchu and Uchinanchu-at-heart! Mark your calendars and plan on spending the day – Saturday, September 22 – at the Maui Okinawan Festival at Maui Mall.
