Happy Halloweeen

Halloween isn’t only about trick or treating. You can make the Halloween fun last longer by hosting a costume party leading up to the holiday. Or, you can host a Halloween party in lieu of going trick or treating. Here are three great Halloween party themes to have fun with this season.

For the Preschooler
Hold a story-time Halloween party. Invite little friends to join you dressed in their costumes. Serve fun foods and drinks while the little ones listen to the moms read Halloween or Fall stories. Have a little “shake-it-out” time in between each story by doing a “boogie-monster” dance.

Make it a Theme
Throw a Halloween party in the days leading up to the holiday and make it a theme. Try to choose a theme that won’t be too difficult for guests to create a costume. Fun theme ideas include: Disco, Pirate or Superheroes. Once you’ve chosen your theme, make food and get decorations and games to go with the theme.

Get Cookie’ing
Make the holiday all about sweet treats by hosting a Halloween cookie decorating party. The keiki can come dressed in costume and make their own treats. Just make a few dozen sugar cookies and let the kids decorate them with pumpkins, spider webs or other fun Halloween themed ideas. Keep orange and black sprinkles and frosting on hand. Let each guest take home a bit of loot in cute Halloween goodie bags.
